Roberto Carlos began his career under the influence of boxers and bossa nova in the early 1960s, changing his repertoire to rock and roll shortly thereafter. With his own compositions, usually made in partnership with his friend Erasmo Carlos, and versions of hits from the recent genre, he laid the foundations for the first rock movement made in Brazil. With fame, he starred alongside Erasmo and Wanderléa on a RecordTV show called Jovem Guarda, which would give name to the first Brazilian rock music movement that raised Roberto and his comrades to the idol status of the generation.
